Data Exchange

Reliable Data Exchange

For data exchange with other CAD applications, CAD6studio uses the widely spread DWG and DXF file formats. Those import and export filters are constantly maintained, extremely reliable and up-to-date.

The data exchange via DWG and DXF supports all complex drawing structures, such as mapping of model space into paper space (“pages”), layer definitions with control of the object's display via layer color and line pattern, blocks, references to external drawings, sorting tables for the object order, all polyline types, and 32 bit colors including transparency.

Using the also available import/export of SHP files, the geometry data will be converted to objects in the drawing area that are linked to the GIS datasets in the internal CAD6 database.

The HP-GL/2 format is mainly used to control cutting plotters and 2D production machines, respectively. CAD6studio supports all relevant object types of that format.

Furthermore, it features the import and export of all common bitmap file formats such as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and BMP, the import of WEBP images, the output of SVG files, plus in the 3D part the import and export of STL data and the export of U3D data and 3MF data.

The Auto Converter can be used to convert complete directory structures in batch mode between all manageable file types. Convert directory structures to libraries and vice versa. Create index files (e.g. for SAP®).

For machine controllers in the industry sector, CAD6industrie offers the additional ability to create special CNC data using post-processors that can be created and edited using a macro language.

All versions of CAD6 can read all drawing and library files of their predecessor programs, i.e. TVG, T2G, T3G, T4G, TVL, T2L, T3L, T4L, VEK and BLD. Please note that many of the filters described here as well as the Auto Converter are not part of CAD6starter.
