Trim Object > Insert Margin (Trim Menu)

www.CAD6.com

This command inserts a »margin« into an existing object, i.e. breaks out a gap of defined width.

1.Enter margin width

After choosing the command, a dialog appears, in which the margin width can be entered.

2.Identify object to be trimmed

Any standard object can be identified as the object to be trimmed, such as lines, endless lines, beams, circles, circle parts, ellipses, ellipse parts, curves, surfaces, and hatchings. In curves, surfaces, and hatchings, only a single outline element (line, circle arc, or bézier curve) will be handled.

The identified object is referred to in the rest of this section as the "trim object".

3.Enter point

The separation point can be specified by clicking on any point within the drawing. A perpendicular is dropped from here to the trim object to work out the exact separation point. In most cases it is a good idea to snap to the intersection of the trim object with another object. To do this, hold down the SHIFT key during point entry.

After specifying the separation point, the trim object is split in a matter that a gap of the given width centered to the separation point is created. If the separation point or part of the gap lies outside the object outline, then an error message appears.
