Trim Object > Automatic Lengthen (Trim Menu)

www.CAD6.com

This command can be used to automatically lengthen an existing object.

1.Identify object to be trimmed

Any standard object can be identified as the object to be trimmed, such as lines, beams, circles, circle parts, ellipses, ellipse parts, curves, surfaces, and hatchings. The objects are always treated as wholes; sectors and segments are handled like arcs.

The identified object is referred to as the "trim object"

The point at which the line / arc was identified (the ID point) affects the rest of the command. It determines which end of the line / arc should be moved.

After identifying the object, the end to which the ID point is closer will be extended up to the intersection point with the next object. This calculation will only include objects that are at least partially visible on the screen. If no intersection is found, the object remains unchanged.

Please use the Dynamic Snapping Guide to temporarily create additional objects during the trimming to be used as boundaries.

Use the buttons in the Parameter Window to select which types of outlines shall be recognized:

Outlines of Construction Aid objects will be recognized.

Outlines of Dynamic Snapping Guide objects will be recognized.

Outlines of normal drawing objects will be recognized.

Texts of any kind will not be used for intersection point calculation.

Note this basic rule for trimming: the object is always changed where it is clicked on.
