Import from > Bitmap File (*.*), Position (File Menu) |
www.CAD6.com |
This command creates a bitmap object which is used to display a local bitmap in one of the supported formats within the drawing. It is placed by its lower left corner.
The position of the lower left corner of the bitmap can be entered by clicking the mouse anywhere in the drawing.
After the position has been entered, the "File Selection" dialog appears, in which the desired bitmap file and its type can be chosen.
The bitmap is then loaded into memory. Up to 1,000 bitmaps can be in memory concurrently. If a bitmap is displayed at different locations within the same drawing, it will be loaded to memory only once.
In the parameters, you can determine whether the imported bitmap shall be embedded into the drawing or linked to the bitmap file.
Embedding is only useful if the drawing file is to be distributed without additional bitmap files, or if the original bitmap files are unlikely to be available later. If none of these reasons apply, we recommend not working with embedded bitmaps, as they make the drawing data immensely large and unwieldy!
Optionally, bitmap objects may be used or ignored during output (i.e. to the printer, Clipboard, a metafile, or another bitmap). Use the Manage > Drawing Settings > Output command to set this option. By default, bitmaps objects are used.
