Example 11: Turn Threaded Stud (CAM Introduction) |
www.CAD6.com |
Sample Drawing: "CAM\Turn Threaded Stud"
Export ObjectsThe contour with the starting point (0|-6.5) consisting of lines, circluar arcs and Turning Cycles\G25 Undercut Contour (special turning cycle that merges with the associated contour) together with the four markings that describe the cylindrical blank defines the cutting area. The four markers are not directly exported to the NC file, they only affect the calculation of the encompassing frame of the export objects. The contour description is used by the contour-related turning cycles "Longitudinal Contour Roughing with Plunging G819" and "Contour Finishing G89". The associated NC blocks (lines) also appear in this color.
Although the contour only exists once in the "Turning\Contour roughing/finishing" layer, it appears twice in the NC file! This is achieved by assigning two different tools to the "Turning\Contour roughing/finishing" layer in the tool list. The position of these tools in the list determines their order in the NC file. Another special feature here is that the roughing and finishing cycles are defined using the T parameter "T21" of the respective tool (and not using a CAM block).
The last object in the sequence is the block instance "G350 Longitudinal Thread, Simple" from the "CAM Universal" library. The corresponding NC blocks (lines) can therefore also be found at the end of the NC file.
This is crucial because the longitudinal thread cycle requires that the work processes relating to the spigot have already been completed, otherwise there is a risk of collision!
Turning Cycles and Outline DescriptionThe origin of the drawing must be on the symmetry line and the face of the turned part. The starting point of the contour description must also be on the end face. Turning cycles that are to be merged with the contour must be in front of the contour in the object sequence and also placed exactly on a definition point of the contour.
The contour-related turning cycle G819 ensures that the material of the blank is machined step by step until the contour minus allowance is reached. Information on the parameters and alternative contour-related turning cycles can be found in the user manual for the Heidenhain MANUALplus 4110 control. The contour is finished with the following contour-related turning cycle G89. The postprocessor automatically exports all contours using contour-related turning cycles.
When inserting a CAM block instance with turning cycles (by setting the corresponding check box in the Block > Insert dialog) or afterwards (using the Shape > Edit > Text / Attributes command), you can edit the local attributes that contain the NC commands of the turning cycles , edit if necessary. For example, you can specify a different thread length or pitch when cutting threads.
If you want to follow this example, please make sure that you also select the four markings when selecting the objects for export. The markings define the dimensions of the cylindrical stock.
